John 1:1-14; JESUS is the Word. He was there in the beginning when the earth was created. In fact Jesus was the one who did the creating. HOW? By His WORD! God SAID, and everything He said appeared. Jesus is the spoken Word of God.
Read Gen. chapter 1. How many times do you read “AND GOD SAID.”? (9 times)
(This could be made into an activity: A leader reads the chapter. The children must listen carefully. Every time they hear the phrase “and God said” they must change position from sitting to standing, or standing to sitting.
Jesus is the Word of God that created everything in the beginning!
John 1:14 The Bible says that the Word was made flesh and made His dwelling among us. HOW?
When Jesus, the Son of God came to dwell with man, He came as a little baby. The same Jesus who created the earth by His spoken word came as a human just like us. This is told to us in our Christmas story. This is why we celebrate Christmas. We celebrate the birth of Jesus.

  1. Hi Ann, I am so glad I came across this site and it’d help me for the Friday Liturgy activity that I have in our parish. Basically I do need to give more good examples on how to explain week’s gospel reading to the children. I hope to see your website every week.
