Genesis chapter 1 tells us that God made everything. Each day God spoke, and new things appeared.
What are some of your favorite things that God made? When you wake up in the morning and it is light outside so you can see, what do you see around you? What do you see when you are walking to school or when you are playing at the park? Have you ever gone for a walk through the woods or along a beach? What did you see and hear. Even if you go outside at night you can see many things.
The Bible tells us that when God had made all these things, He saw that it was good!
Some people will tell you that these things just happened to come into being by “Chance”; that they evolved. You have a choice. Do you want to believe what God said, or do you want to believe something else? God wants us to recognize His work and to be THANKFUL for all He has given us.
Romans 1:20&21; For since the creation of the world God’s invisible attributes,His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but they became futile in their speculations and their foolish heart was darkened.
The Bible tells us that when people forget God and forget to be Thankful, they become “foolish.” Do you want to be foolish? What is “foolish”? (silly or unwise, someone who makes bad choices) SO LET’S REMEMBER TO BE THANKFUL FOR ALL GOD HAS DONE!
PRAYER: Have each child mention something they are thankful for. Pray for the children that they may grow in wisdom.
OBJECT LESSON: Can be done in opening session Mini Lesson(Job 12:7&8) But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you.
Many lessons can be learned from nature. If animals could talk, we might be amazed at what they would tell us about God who created them. But we can learn much about God by just observing animals and nature. Ants teach us about working hard, Lilies tell us to not worry, Lions give us lessons in boldness.
A serious problem occurred at the airport on Midway Island. Albatrosses built their nests too close to the airstrip. Not wanting to injure the birds, workers carefully caught them and moved the group to the Philippines. That seemed like a safe distance, 4,120 miles from the airfield. But in less than 30 days, the albatrosses had flown across unfamiliar territory, over the open sea, and arrived back at Midway Island.
If an albatross could talk, we would interview him. How could he navigate day and night, good weather and bad, and end up home again? What kind of special equipment did God give that allows an albatross such skill? If birds could talk, they could tell us something about God’s amazing ability.
