Memory Verse: Psalm 118:24; This is the day the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Use the calendar from the beginning of the class.
Talk about other special days.
Mark Christmas day with a sticker. Jesus has a birthday! When is Jesus birthday?
Luke 2:41-52; Jesus had special days.
One special day when Jesus was 12 years old He went to the temple with His parents. That was like going to church with your mommy and daddy. Jesus was little like you once. Maybe He had a party on His birthday too. Maybe His mommy made a special cake for Him. The Bible says He grew in wisdom and stature.
Every day children grow and get bigger they learn new things. Sometimes mommy might say, “Your clothes are getting too small and you need new ones.” When Jesus was little, He must sometimes have got new clothes too. Maybe He had a favorite shirt.
A birthday is a special celebration but God made every day special. We can do special things every day. Maybe today is special because you are going to visit your grandma. (What else might make today special?)
Prayer: Thank you God for this day you have made. Thank you for loving me and taking care of me. Help me to grow every day to be the person you want me to be.
