(1 Peter 1:18&19 and Romans 6:11-14); These scriptures tell us that a very high price was paid for us. God valued us so much that He gave His own Son to die in our place. It was the precious blood of Jesus that redeemed us from sin. When Jesus died on that cross, He took all our sin with Him so it is as if we died with Him there. Because He paid the debt for us we are no longer stuck in the curse of sin that we inherited from Adam. We are free from sin so now we can live as we should. We can choose to live as God would have us live.
If we love God and accept Jesus as our Savior, we will want to live in a way that will please Him. This will now be possible for us because, our memory verse says that God will put His law in our minds and write it on our hearts. He changes us from the inside. We begin a relationship with Him. Now the law is not just a bunch of rule written on paper but we really want to love God and others. We become thankful because we appreciate the sacrifice He made for us and what He has done for us. We want to spend time with Him by studying His Word and praying and telling Him that we love Him. We want to spend time with others who love Him so we go to church or places where we can meet to hear about Him and worship Him.
2 Corinthians 5:17; Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.
When we believe in Jesus and accept Him as Lord, it is His Spirit that comes to live in us. We become that new person who wants to love please God. It is His Spirit who makes it possible for us to live as He wants us to. His Spirit in us makes us like that balloon that was filled with Helium. Now we do things we could not do before. Others around us will notice that we are not just ordinary. People will see how we behave and will recognize God’s character in us.
(Pray with children to ask God to write His law in their heart.)
