Job chapter 38; When I look at the creation of the earth that God has made, I am often overwhelmed at the bigness of it all. People can study the earth and the universe and have many questions about the origins of it all. Sometimes when we see everything frozen during the winter season, we may wonder if ice and snow is part of the curse of sin. But when I read the book of Job, I see how God’s ways are not our ways. Isaiah 55: 8&9; “ For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
The sky is a wonderful place. Every morning when we wake up, we can look outside at the sky and see the day that God has made. Sometimes the sky is bright and blue, sometimes it is dark and cloudy. Sometimes it is warm and sometimes it is cold and sometimes it is windy. In the winter when it is cold outside everything freezes and it might be snowing. (What color is snow?) The snow covers everything up. The flowers and the leaves are gone and even most of the birds and animals are gone. It is too cold for them. If you go play outside in the winter, what do you need to put on? (coat and hay and mitts and snow-pants and boots) Your mommy or daddy helps you to dress very warm because they want to take care of you. Can you have fun outside in the snow? Of course you can! You can make a snow man or you can go sledding or skating.
When God sends the ice and snow, the land has a rest. The ice and snow gives water to the earth so in the spring everything can grow again. When the birds and animals are gone, God protects them from the cold. The birds fly to a warm place and animals get into a cozy warm nest where they sleep all winter. I am glad that God takes care of everything.
