Revelation 3:20; Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me.
Think of someone who is your friend! What is it about them that makes them your friend? (Allow children to share.)
Have you ever heard the saying that you should do to others as you would want them to do to you? Did you know that came from the Bible? Matthew 7:12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the law and the prophets.
A friend is someone who takes time to be with you. They listen to you. They talk to you. They help you and you help them. They love you. They understand you. They come to your house to visit or to share a meal with you. You invite them to your birthday party or to a special celebration. You enjoy spending time with them. You might tell others about your friend and introduce them to others.
All these might be true about your friend. Are these things true about you? Do you treat your others in a way that you would want them to treat you? Jesus said that a real friend would die for you.
Did you know that Jesus wants to be your friend? He wants it so much that He died for you. When did Jesus lay down His life for us?
Jesus wants to spend time with you! He will listen to you! He wants to talk to you! He wants to help you and he wants you to help him! He loves you and he wants you to love him! He understands you because he made you. Revelation 3:20; says that Jesus is knocking at your door. He is knocking at the door of your heart. He wants to come in and eat with you. That means He wants to be friends with you. He wants to wants to have the same kind of relationship as you have with any of your best friends. Jesus wants to share your special events because he is interested in every detail about you! Jesus wants you to enjoy his company! Jesus wants you to tell others about him and to introduce others to him too! Jesus wants to be your best friend. Have you ever thought about Jesus being your best friend?
