Bible Verse: Psalm 139:14; I praise you because I am wonderfully made.

When you make something or you paint a picture or when you dress up, you can decide what you want to do. You pick a color or you decide how big or how little to make the thing you are making. You can decide where to put a nose or the eyes.                                                                                                                                When God made you, (Psalm 139), He decided how you should look. He made all your parts and He knows everything about you. He gave you all your parts. All your parts have to work together to make you the special person you are. Look at the other children around you. Are they the same as you?    Some are big, some are small, some have dark hair, or light hair. Some are girls and some are boys. Even your voices are different from one another.

Let’s play a little game to show that all are different from each other. (Gather all the children into a circle. Have them repeat the Bible verse or part of it. Then have them close their eyes and have one child repeat the verse.  Now everyone can open their eyes and let’s guess who said it.)

How do we know who it was that said the verse? We were able to recognize their voice. That is because God made each of us special. Each of us has a special voice. Not only is each voice special, but so is everything about us. God gave you all your parts so you can do what He has planned for you to do. God wants us to use all He has given each of us to please Him.

Bible Verse: Genesis 2:7; The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

(Use a felt board to tell this story. Before class, prepare a number of felt cutouts of people, animals and plants.)

Gen.2; After God made the trees and flowers and animals, (allow children to suggest some of the things that God made. Have children place some of the shapes on the felt board), He made something very special.                                   He took some clay and made a person from it.                                                      Then He breathed into the person and made him come alive.

God put the man into a beautiful garden and said to him, “I want you to look after this place and all these creatures.”

Then one night when Adam was asleep, God took one of Adam’s ribs and made it into a woman.(Gen.2:21&22). The woman’s name was Eve. God made her to be Adam’s friend and helper.                                                                                       God gave the Adam and Eve things to do.                                                              Together, the man and the woman took care of the garden and the animals.   God brought the animals to Adam and Adam gave the animals names. God talked with Adam every day and Adam talked with God.

God made each of us too and He gives us things to do. My job is to teach children about God’s love.God gives mommies and daddies the job of looking after their children.                                                                                                        God will give each of you something to do too. Do you think we should find out what that is?Right now your job might be to be an obedient child and to do what your mommy or daddy ask?

PRAYER

Thank you God, You gave me life. Help me live for you!

Bible Verse: Genesis 1:24; Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures … and creeping things.”

(Proverbs 30:24-28) God has made even the smallest of creatures. He made them unique and very interesting. The ant lives in a colony that works together to gather and store food. Can you think of another small creature that does this. (How about bees?)

The Bible talks about Rock Badgers and Locusts and Lizards, and how they are specially made. Maybe you have some of these creatures in the area where you live.Pay attention to them. The Bible says that lizards, even though they are small, are able to get into even the kings palace. Did you know that God made the little lizards toes so special that they can stick to a ceiling or a window, so they are able to climb into places that other creatures cannot.                             When we learn about how even the tiniest of creatures are specially made, it teaches us about God. Let’s remember to be thankful for all the creatures God has made!

Bible Verse: Genesis 1:20 And God said, “Let the waters be filled with living creatures.”

After God made the SKY and Water and Land, He began to make all kinds of creatures. First He made fish. He said. “Let the waters be filled with living creatures. Have you ever gone to a place where you can see fish swimming? If you go to a fish store or an aquarium or the zoo, you will see fish of every size and color. (Show some examples. Pictures or bring in a fish tank)

(Talk a bit about fishing. Show a fishing pole and a net or a picture of how they fished in Jesus time)

John 21: 1-14 One night Jesus’ friends decided to go fishing. They went out in their boat and all night they worked. They dropped their big net into the water over and over again but by morning they had caught not even one fish. They headed back to the shore. They were tired and hungry. Then just as they were coming close to the shore, they saw Jesus on the shore. Jesus had a fire going and He was cooking some breakfast. He asked them, “Have you caught any fish?”   “No!” they answered. Jesus said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did as Jesus told them, they caught so many fish that they were not able to pull it into the boat. Then they had breakfast with Jesus.

Jesus loved His friends very much. He wanted his friends to know that God loved them. God wants everyone to know how much He loves us. That is why He sent His son Jesus.  Jesus shows us how to love. He wanted His special friends to tell others. Jesus said they would be “fishers of men.” We can be fishers of men too when we tell others about Jesus and how much God loves us.

Lesson Title: This is the Day that the Lord has made
Bible Verse: Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
We have learned that God made the sun and the moon and the stars and that He made them to divide and mark the days and nights. (Gen. 1:14) That is how God made every day. Some days are very special. Can you think of some special days? (Christmas, a holiday, a birthday; Talk about some of the special days in your calendar year and allow children to share about some special events in their days.) A special day can be in the summer or the winter. Maybe you think that this is not your special day. Maybe it is someone else’s special day. But God made all the days. He wants us to be thankful for every one of them. Did you know that God knows about you every day? He knows what you are doing, (Psalm 139) He knows where you are and He knows what you need. He loves you and He cares about you every day. That is what makes every day special.

GOD MADE A SPECIAL STAR

Lesson Title: God Made a Special Star
Bible Verse: Matthew 2:2 We saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.
Genesis 1:16&17 He made the stars and God put them in the heavens to give light on the earth.
Matthew 2:1-11; One of the stars that God made was a very special star. Some people look at the stars and study them. One day some wise men studied the stars. They saw the very special star that God had made. They decided that this star was a sign that a new king had been born and they wanted to see this King. They packed up many treasures to give as a gift to the new King. Then they got on their camels and they traveled a very long way.
Do you know what a camel looks like? (Show a camel picture) How would you like to go for a long trip riding on a camel instead of in a car?
The men followed in the direction of the star kind of like you would follow a map. Finally the men came to the country where Jesus was born. They asked “Where is the new King? (“For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him”) They were sent to the little town of Bethlehem. So they got back on the camels and again followed the star to Bethlehem. The star went in front of them and then it stopped over the place where they found the baby Jesus. Here was the new King they were looking for. Then they opened their treasures and gave gifts to Jesus.
Jesus is not a little baby any more but we can worship Him too. He is God’s Son and He loves us very much. We can worship Him by loving Him. He likes to hear us say “I love you Jesus. Thank you for loving me!”

Lesson Title: God Made the Moon and Stars
Bible Verse: Genesis 1:16 God made two great lights- the greater light for the day and the lesser light for the night. He also made the stars.
God made the sun and the moon and then He put all the stars in their places. If you look up at the sky at night can you see where the stars are? Can you count them? There are very many, too many to count. The Bible tells a story about a man who could not count all the stars either. (Gen.: 15:2-6 & 17 & 21:1-6) Abraham was a man who loved and obeyed God. But Abraham and his wife had no children. They were getting old and they were sad. What if they would never have a child? What should he do? So Abraham asked God! Do you know that it is a good idea to ask God? (Gen. 15:5) God took him outside and said, “Look up at the heavens and count the stars-if you can count them.” Then God said, “this is like your children. There will be too many to count.” Quite some time later Abraham and his wife did have a child. God kept His promise. They named the baby Isaac which means laughter. Now they were happy and they knew that God will do what He said He would do. After this Abraham had more children and grandchildren just as God promised until there were more than people can count. When God makes a promise, He will always do what He said. When we go outside and see the many stars in the sky we must remember this story and know that God will keep His promises to us as well. When we go to sleep at night, we can say this Bible verse that promises that God will take care of us. (Psalm 4:8) I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, oh Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Lesson Title: God Made the Sun

Lesson Title: God Made the Sun
Bible Verse: Genesis 1:14-19
God said “Let there be lights in the sky to separate the day from the night.” God made two great lights, The greater light for the day and the lesser light for the night. And God saw that it was good.
When we go outside in the daytime, what is the big light that you see in the sky? It is the sun isn’t it! The Bible says that God made the sun to give us light in the daytime. The sun comes up in the morning on one side of the sky and during the day it travels from one side all the way over to the other side of the sky and then at night it goes down. (Illustrate this with a big yellow ball or a balloon or a big poster board circle. Hold it up and walk it across the room.) The daytime is when we can go outside and play. It is bright outside and we can see everything. The sun makes a shadow as well. If we look beside us when we walk outside on a sunny day, our shadow is right beside us. Sometimes our shadow is very long and sometimes it is very short. We can have fun playing “shadow tag.” Sometimes we are having a lot of fun playing outside and mommy says “It’s time to come in now, it’s getting dark. It’s night-time and time for bed.” We might not want to go inside. We want to play some more. We want to finish what we are doing. We want the sun to stay up longer. (Joshua 10) There is a story in the Bible about someone who wanted to finish what he was doing. His name was Joshua. He didn’t want the sun to go down either. He was doing something very important. He and his army were fighting a battle. They needed to win this battle but night was coming and at night they would not be able to see and they would have to stop. So Joshua said to God, “make the sun stand still.” And God listened to Joshua. He made the sun stand still until the battle was finished. The Bible says that there was never another day like this one. (Illustrate again with the ball, walking it to a halfway point, then hold it in the center of the room as you tell the story.)

GOD MADE SEEDS

Theme: Day 3 – God Made Land and Vegetation

Lesson Title: God Made Seeds

Bible Verse: Genesis 1:12

Lesson Plan: God made seeds lesson plan To download and print this entire lesson, go to links below.

Genesis 1: 12; And the land produced plants bearing seed.
God made plants to grow all over the earth that He made.
Bring a variety of seeds into the classroom Compare the seeds. Which ones are big and which ones are small? How do seeds grow?
Some seeds are good to eat. Peas are an example of seeds that are good to eat. Some seeds have a very hard shell that needs to be broken to get the part inside that is good to eat.
Where can we find seeds? Some grow in flowers, some grow inside or on the outside of fruit. (Show a strawberry and cut open an apple to demonstrate.)
The Bible tells us about seeds. Genesis 1:11&12 says that God made plants grow and each plant has its own special kind of seeds.
God made each plant special. Each kind of plant grows its own special seeds. A strawberry can only grow strawberry seeds and a bean plant can only grow bean plants.
What kind of seeds grow into very big trees? (Show a pinecone and an acorn.) These are seeds that can grow to be trees. An acorn grows to be a very big oak tree. It takes a long time, many years in fact. This pinecone has many seeds inside it. The seeds inside this pinecone could grow a whole forest of trees. What would you need to do to make these seeds grow? You would need to plant them in some soil and you would need to water them!
Jesus told a story about seeds. (Mark 4:3-8) He told about a farmer who went out and planted a lot of seeds. Some of the seeds landed on the road where the ground was hard. Those seeds did not grow. Some birds came along and ate them. Some seeds landed in soil that was full of rocks. These seeds grew but they were not strong because the roots could not grow deep into the ground. Some of the seeds landed in a place where there were too many weeds. They couldn’t grow either. The weeds took all the sunshine and water. But some of the seeds landed in the good soil. This soil was deep and there were no weeds. These seeds grew into good plants that were good to eat and were able to grow lots more seeds. You see! It was very important for the farmer to plant his seeds into a good garden.

GOD MADE FOOD

Lesson Title: God Made Food

Bible Verse: Matthew 6:11

Daniel: chapter 1
A long time ago, God made all kinds of food that grows on trees and in the ground. What are some of your favorite foods. (give examples of fruits and vegetables.) God told his people what they should eat. He told them which foods were good for them and which foods they should not eat. God wants His people to be healthy. (Does your mommy tell you to eat healthy food?)
The Bible tells a story about a boy named Daniel. Daniel loved God and wanted to obey Him. One day the king chose some boys for something very special. The king wanted to train these boys to be his special servants. Daniel was chosen to be one of these special servants. That sounds like a very special privilege. The king gave them the very best teachers and he gave them the best foods that his cooks could make. But this king did not know about God. He did not know how God had told His people about what foods they should eat. Some of the king’s food was not healthy food. Daniel wanted to obey God. What should he do?
Daniel had an idea! He asked the teacher to give him and his three friends, just vegetables to eat for ten days. He said, “after ten days, check us out to see if we are healthy”! The teacher agreed. So Daniel and his friends ate just healthy vegetables. Then after ten days the teacher checked them out and they were healthy and strong. Better than all the others in the group. So they continued to eat the healthy vegetables.
Our Bible verse today Matthew 6:11 “Give us this day our daily bread.” This verse reminds us that it is God who made our food grow. It is God who gives us our food. He makes fruits and vegetables and grains from which we can make bread. We need to remember to be thankful for the food He gives us. That is why when we sit down at the dinner table for our meal, we should say thank you to God.
We might say something like this: “For health and strength and daily food. We thank you God for you are good.”
