Bible Verse: Genesis 1:24; Then God said, “Let the earth be filled with animals…Let there be tame animals and small crawling animals and wild animals.
When God had made plants and food and fish and birds, the next thing He made was animals. He made all kinds of animals, big ones, little ones, tame ones and wild ones. At the zoo you will see lots of animals that God made.
What kinds of animals might you see at a farm? You might see some sheep at a farm What animal do you like? There was a boy in the Bible who liked animals. His name was David. He was a shepherd boy who cared for the sheep on his father’s farm. He had to make sure they had good food and water to drink and he had to protect them when they were out in a field. Sometimes he had to protect them from a lion or a bear. (1 Sam. 17:34&35) David must have been very brave I think. A shepherd needed to be very kind as well as strong and brave.
Do you have a pet? What kind of pet do you have? Do you love your pet?
Do you help to look after your pet? How can you help to care for your pet?
Your pet needs food and water and a warm place to sleep.
How can you be kind to your pet? Do you pull its’ tail? (NO! that would not be Kind)
Did you know that Jesus is sometimes called a shepherd and that we are His sheep?
That is because Jesus cares for us and protects us just as a shepherd cares for and protects his sheep.Jesus loves us very much.
When God made animals for us to look after, He knew just what kind of pet you would like. He knew that when we have an animal to look after, it helps us to understand how much God loves us.
