Bible Verse: Matthew 6:26; Look at the birds in the air. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns. But your Heavenly Father feeds the birds. And you know that you are worth much more than the birds.

What do birds eat? Some eat seeds or fruit and some eat worms. Did you ever watch a mother bird feed its babies? A mother robin catches a worm and then brings it to the nest for the babies. The baby bird opens its beak wide and makes a lot of noise when the mother brings the worm to the nest. Who do you suppose told the mother bird to catch a worm and feed it to her babies? God did! God takes care of all the birds. He makes the seeds or the worms and then He tells the birds to find them and to feed their babies. God takes care of all His creatures that way and He takes care of us too because He loves us very much. One day God told some birds to feed a prophet. (1 Kings 17:1-6) This prophet was one of Gods’ servants. His name was Elijah. God wanted to take care of Elijah so God told some birds to go and feed him just the same way as if they would feed their babies. Every morning and every night these birds went and found food and they brought it to Elijah. I don’t know if they brought worms. The Bible says that the birds brought him bread and meat.

Our Bible verse today tells that God feeds the birds and takes care of them and that God will take care of us as well because He loves us. A good father or mother takes care of their children because they love them. God is our Heavenly Father. He loves us and takes care of us.
